Jove is still young, and with that comes his gullibility. Instead of earning his trust, you have it until you break it, and depending what caused you to loose it, it's not too hard to gain it back. This can can cause a lot of problems for the young stallion. He's rather narrow minded, in the way that what he sees is right IS right to him. He won't start an argument over much, but when he does it's not long before it goes from a verbal debate to a physical fight. He isn't a liar, and as much as he wouldn't want someone to know something, it can't force himself to lie. He is loyal to whoever he sees two things in, a respectable and strong. To the mares in his herd, he thinks that the trade-off is fair. For being in their territory, eating their food and being under their protection, it is there payment to give the stallions what they want. He does, however, realize that the trade off is different for other herds, and doesn't try to force his opinion of male dominance on members of different herds, though he might snap at the opinion of a female quicker than that of a male. He can be very sarcastic, also, patronizing the ones he can't fight (whether it being he sees them as too weak and a waste to fight or the fight could get him into more trouble than it's worth).

Jove's mother was a brood mare for the bachelor herd, but when she realized she was to have a foal and
knew what happened to foals born in the herd she tried to escape to save her daughter from being a brood or her
son from getting an X-scar on his forehead. Her plan was to wait until the land-bridge was open and to cross it with
her foal. She had Jove before this was possible, though. She was fearful that she wouldn't be able to cross the land
bridge with him, so she decided to wait until he got older to cross.

When he was born she taught him about the gods she believed in, and how one day they would join a safe herd that would also believe in them. He believed her at the time, as any young horse would.

After around four years, she came up with a plan.
She kept Jove hidden and re-joined the herd herself, saying that she had gotten lost on the night she had run away and knew her place was with the herd, so came after them. She also told them that she had miscarried her foal, and added that it was female
to avoid taking the rap of killing a male. She was able to keep him hidden for six more years with the help of other brood mares and by keeping him relatively far away from the herd.

Jove was now about ten years old, and was much harder to keep hidden because of his growing size. She decided that it was time to get him into the herd, he was old enough to join now as a stallion and wouldn't receive the scar. Though she wanted him to live a different life than become one of the 'brute' males, his was the best thing she could give him.

She set it up so that they would come across him in the fields. When they did, he had to prove his strength by a larger stallion attacking him. He held his ground and didn't fall, but gained a few more scars from
it, a small price to pay.

About two years after he was accepted into the herd, his mother died. He couldn't show any emotion towards this, as it would put him in danger of the stallions seeing the connection with the two. He didn't know what would happen to them if they found out that his mother had lied and he was her son. If it is ever found out that he was, he fears that he could be considered a traitor for not telling them sooner to protect his mother.

The longer he lived with the herd, the more he grew loyal to them. His views of his mother's gods slipped and like the rest of the stallions, he became atheist. He believed in their ways, trusted them, and became a true member. He's still too young to have too much of a rank, but wants to become one of two things, a highly trusted guard or the right-hand-man to the lead stallion.
